How are we going to address the inevitable gaps in knowledge that are a result of both the expected summer learning loss and COVID slide? Should you reteach what was missed last year, or focus on acceleration? How can you quickly determine what students know and what they really know?

As schools across the country closed in response to COVID-19, it became critical for educators to have the tools and knowledge they need to effectively teach math through distance learning. Our Professional Learning team shared several effective practices for distance learning, including how to use manipulatives and provide quality math instruction. We also discussed supporting SPED, RtI, and targeted intervention students learning from home.
The webinar covered:

  • How to shift to distance or online teaching using TouchMath.
  • How to help parents and students use manipulatives at home.
  • How best to validate skills.
  • How to work around low tech and lack of resources.
